This air relief valve is a compatible replacement for the Pentair original, supplied as the Internal Air Bleed Assembly for FNS Plus D.E. Filter. In service it purges trapped air from the top of the filter tank so the vessel fills completely with water. This is a consumable in practice: the stem seizes and the seal leaks, which is both a nuisance drip and a safety concern on a pressure vessel.
