This volute / housing is a compatible replacement for the Hayward original, supplied as the Pump Housing and Strainer with Drain Plug for Super II. In service it forms the pressure chamber around the impeller and directs flow to the discharge port. It is a wear item: threaded ports and mounting bosses crack, usually from over-tightened plumbing or freeze damage. Ours is molded in reinforced thermoplastic.
