This volute / housing is a compatible replacement for the Hayward original, supplied as the Conversion Kit Including Housing Lid Cover. In service it forms the pressure chamber around the impeller and directs flow to the discharge port. Replacement is routine: threaded ports and mounting bosses crack, usually from over-tightened plumbing or freeze damage. Ours is molded in reinforced thermoplastic.
