This gasket is a compatible replacement for the CMP original, supplied as the Fiberglass Wall Fitting with Nut and Gasket, 1-1/2-Inch Socket x 2-Inch Spigot, Gray. In service it seals the joint between two housing faces and keeps the circuit pressure-tight. It is a wear item: the material compresses permanently and loses its rebound, so the joint begins to weep under pressure. Ours is molded in EPDM rubber.
