This union / fitting is a compatible replacement for the Zodiac original, supplied as the Threaded Socket Union Half, 1.5-Inch, Compatible with Zodiac. In service it connects sections of plumbing and allows equipment to be removed without cutting pipe. It is a wear item: the nut threads strip and the seat distorts, so the joint can no longer be sealed by hand. Ours is molded in PVC / reinforced thermoplastic.
