This filter cartridge is a compatible replacement for the Hayward original, supplied as the Outlet Elbow for Swim Clear Cartridge Filter. In service it traps suspended particles as water passes through the pleated media. This is a consumable in practice: the pleats collapse and the media loses porosity, so pressure climbs and cycles between cleanings get shorter. Ours is built with reinforced polyester media.
