This impeller is a compatible replacement for the Waterway original, supplied as the Impeller, 1.5 HP, Compatible with Waterway SMF Pump. In service it accelerates water through the volute and generates the flow and head the pump is rated for. Replacement is routine: the vanes wear and the eye clogs with debris, which shows up as reduced flow and lower filter pressure. Ours is molded in glass-filled thermoplastic.
